Overview
One of the few rules that the Wildlife Volunteers Association Inc.
have is that you MUST send in your fauna and telephone reports
summaries each month. This information is critical for grant
applications and animal management. The data we collect also feeds
into media opportunities. Currently their are four (4)
different types of returns:
You may send your returns by post or email them. For more
information about how to lodge your return sheet please see the
appropriate return sheet page (See Members > Returns > and select
the return you wish to complete ).
If you are unfamiliar with the information typically included on a
return sheet please view the descriptions below.
Telephone
Returns
Date – The date you received the
phone call.
Animal Species or Type – This is
sometimes difficult as the information comes from the general
public. If the caller does not know the species write bird unknown
as an example.
Age – Please tick the
appropriate column
Location – Please just tell us
the town ie: Buderim. We do not need a street address here
Injury/Cause – This is very
important, please fill it in. Entries could include, orphaned, cat
attack, can’t fly, wing damaged and so on. Write down as much
information as you can but it must be accurate. If someone says “I
think it was hit by a car” please do not record this. We need
accurate information.
Callers Name – Christian names
are fine as we do not record this information in our database. It is
more of a convenience for the person on phone roster just in case
they need to contact that person again.
Callers Phone – Once again we do not record this information
it is a convenience for the person on phone roster in case they need
to phone the caller back.
Carers Referred – ??
Fauna Returns
Date – Needs no explanation
Previous Return – If the status
of an animal changes that you have registered on a previous return
then we need to know to update our database. Please mark Y if Yes
and leave blank if No.
Sex – This only applies to
mammals.
Weight – This only applies to
mammals, the first time they come into care.
Species – Please be as accurate
as you can here or if you are not sure and are passing on the animal
to another carer write bird unknown as an example.
Age – Please tick the
appropriate column.
Received From – Please just tell
us the town ie: Buderim. We do not need a street address here. If
the animal came from another carer, please put the other carers full
name in here.
Injury/Cause – This is very important, please fill it in.
Entries could include, orphaned, cat attack, can’t fly, wing damaged
and so on.
Status – Very critical
information also, please tick the appropriate box. Release Address
or Other Carers Name AND Date of Status - If you are releasing the
animal or passing the animal to another carer, please advise the
release address or the carers name. Also advise the date that the
animal either died, was euthanased, went to the vet (and stayed
there), released or when it went to another carer.
