What's Happening?

From Land to Sea

The Wilvos team certainly have been busy over the last few months. When the multi-award winning Tv education show "Totally Wild" needed someone to talk to about the problems faced by Australian wildlife who did they come to....WILVOS of course. Two articles were filmed with Pru Pettett explaining how the loss of natrual habitat due to clearing is causing significant population reduction of our unique animals. She also explainedof an increasing threat from dog and cat attacks and car strikes as they try to find ever decreasing sutable habitat. Paul Smith then explained how WILVOS helps these animals by rescueing, rehabilitating and with the help of presenter Pip Russel released two Ring Tail Possums. If that wasn't enough Paul has also been working with a research project to understand the behaviour and vocalisations of Humpback Whales. It is great to think that the worlds leading study of these amazing animals is happening on the beaches of the Sunshine Coast, and another reason to be prowd of our area and the people trying to protect it and educate the public about it.
