How I can Help - Release Program Assistance

Land for Wildlife

One way you can help is by joining the Land for Wildlife program. This voluntary program is run under the guidance of the Queensland Parks & Wildlife Service. Participating properties receive assistance from groups such as Bushcare and local council authorities. On joining the voluntary scheme you are guided on the best practice to manage your property to encourage wildlife habitat. Through this scheme you can contribute to the release of rescued animals by providing a safe release site for them. If you are interested in joining this voluntary service please contact your local council, Queensland Parks & Wildlife or the WILVOs.

WILVOs Release Program

If you do not want to join the Land for Wildlife program but feel you would still like to contribute to native animal release we would like to here from you. The WILVOs Release Program is always on the look out for new areas to release. We feel that the release of our animals in care is just as important as caring for them. So drop us an email or phone our hotline (see contacts).  Our release officers will be in contact with you and they will come out and see what we can release.  We are also always needing a hand in releasing. If you are not afraid of heights perhaps you could help putting our nest boxes up in trees.  Or moving our trailer around to new sites.  Do you like talking to new people?  Well maybe you would like to help by talking to our property owners and looking at what we can place there.

If contributing to a release is not what you would prefer to do you can still help out by letting us know what animals you have in your area.  Please take the time to explore the Animals in my area page (See How I can help > Become a volunteer > Animals in my area).
